K-12 Projects

Featured Project: The Writer’s Exchange

The Writer’s Exchange is an area on Trinity School’s website that I designed for faculty and students to share reflective writing articles. The Writer’s Exchange uses blogs and builds on “web 2.0″ themes like personal expression, online learning, and social collaboration.

GPS & Geocaching

I led students through a number of pre-geocaching lessons that covered latitude, longitude, and maps. After establishing a basic proficiency level, students learned about GPS units and the basics of geocaching. All of the students then searched for a number of caches placed throughout the local area.

Claymation

I taught an after-school class to fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students that provided an overview of how to make claymation movies. It incorporated script writing, sculting with clay, and an understanding of video cameras and specialized software.

Scratch

“Programming with Scratch” was an after-school class that I taught for fourth and fifth grade students. The students in the class learned the basics of computer programming, applied their understanding of mathematical concepts like coordinate grids and angles, and produced some creative animations and games.
